Marquis is a Certified End of Life Doula and completed training through the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA), International Association of Professional Death Doulas (IAPDD), LifeSpan Doulas and End of Life Doula UK. He is also an active member of the End of Life Doula Association of Canada, INELDA, NEDA, International Association of Professional Death Doulas (IAPDD), and End of Life Doula UK. He has always taken pride in being a caretaker, nurturer, helper, and a wide-eyed companion to others. By serving his own aging family members and friends, Marquis developed a reverence for the human experience, which includes birth and death.

Marquis founded Serene Transitions to expand and facilitate the practice of end of life planning and companionship. It is his passion to help people and their loved ones be more prepared for the end of life by serving as a loving presence and providing them with the confidential planning and unbiased emotional and spiritual support they need during times of transitional life changes.

Marquis has learned over the years that every individual has a story and legacy they may wish to pass along to their loved ones. He believes that life is sacred, holistic, and that a dignified transition is a right entitled to every human being.

As a matter of culture, respect, and various other reasons, most people do not discuss the matter of dying, even though it is all but inevitable. During times of grief and heartbreak, family and friends are often left making decisions with little to no guidance. This can add even more stress and anxiety to a situation that may already have an abundance of complex emotions.

Instead of avoiding discussions about death, it is important to realize that time can be spent having healthy conversations to capture life's meaning,  explore end of life wishes, and create a sense of wholeness to bring a more peaceful and sacred transition full of meaningful memories. In addition to this passion, Marquis enjoys travelling, spending time with friends and family, and trying new foods.

Doula

Betsey Bogen is a trained End of Life Doula through the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA).  She has always held death and dying as a sacred moment and has strived to be a source of emotional support for those left to grieve.  The recent death of her father and being with him in his final moments only reinforced her belief that everyone should be surrounded by love and compassion at the end of their life.   Becoming an end of life doula and being of service to the dying was a calling she heard loud and clear.  Death is the only thing promised to any and all of us yet we continue to make it a taboo subject.  Open and honest communication about end of life wishes, terminal illness, and even the natural aging process can bring a greater sense of peace in life knowing your final wants and needs are heard and validated.

Betsey looks forward to walking with you and your loved ones as you navigate your journey to a more meaningful death experience.  She specializes in life review work, legacy projects, and holding space for the grieving.   Everyone has a story to tell and an individual legacy to leave behind for this world.  Actively listening to those narratives and helping you find the rich meaning and purpose of your life story and legacy is a true passion.  It would be her honor to help you understand the impact you have made on this world.   In the same regard, grief is a very personal and unique experience which requires compassion, patience, and exploration of very deep emotions and thoughts.  Helping you process a new relationship with what or who you've lost would be her great desire and privilege.

Betsey’s joy in life comes from time spent with her family which includes her children Kayla and Grey and her granddaughter and namesake, Eliza.  She is an amateur professional photographer and a writer of true life relational stories.  She loves spontaneity, travel and chocolate cupcakes.
